Psalm 91:1-2,He that
dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of
the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, he is my refuge and my fortress: my God;
in him will I trust. KJV
We had been to Pickwick, our summer home and were headed home. The tires on my van were
almost bald and it was raining hard. Mark my husband and youngest son Jonathan were in the car in front of us
and had left Bobby and me behind.
The van began to hydroplane at 60 miles an hour. We slid sideways and I told Bobby to hold on because we were going to flip. I did not pay attention to the fact that Bobby had braced both his legs on the dash board which would have
shattered them if we had come to sudden stop. Then, we did two complete 360 degree spins. There were no other cars in
sight. I didn’t touch the gas or brakes and held the steering wheel very loosely. We began to slow down and went off the
shoulder of the road on the grass. I began to get some control back. We barely missed several signs and came
to rest about twenty feet from the Tom Bigbee waterway bridge.
I looked up at Bobby and said, “Well, I guess the Lord has something else for us to do!” We were not even bruised! I was shaking from head to foot, but I started driving again to catch up with Mark and tell him what happened. We dubbed the van the “Holy Roller”. I just thanked God because I knew He was the only reason we were still alive.
Lord, I believe as long as we are on this earth there is something we should be doing for you and you protect us until we have done it.
Praise your holy name.
